Song Wave is a unique and beautiful blend of a Concert meets Therapy meets Mindfulness and Meditation.

We each carry a lot week to week, and life has a way of stacking up. The sponge of our mental and emotional experience gets saturated, causing us to carry yesterdays and last months stresses and questions and concerns. And this build-up drains our mental and emotional resources, leaving us little to face the day and future with, causing overwhelm, heaviness, lethargy, fogginess, agitation, anxiety and more.

For our bodies, this process of taking in energy, digesting it and then discarding the leftovers is normal. We digest energy and then later flush the toilet. But how often, and how can we do this for the unseen and not so easily navigable parts of our internal world? Historically this is what singing and dancing and painting and journaling and exercising and crying and sweating and concerts and yoga and events like Song Wave are for the mind and soul–they help us go within and beyond our daily, fast-paced monkey-mind, into dream state, into our subconscious, into the heart where we can rest, rejuvenate, heal, connect to our deeper/higher self, learn and gain clarity and energy for our next steps.

Meditation can oddly be described as flushing the mental/emotional/energetic toilet.

How often in life do we believe force and effort is required to create change?

Did you know the conscious mind processes 4 bits of information each second, while the subconscious processes around 4 million bits each second? For many, we try to create change mentally alone, using those precious 4 bits available. Bit this can only get us so far, and requires massive discipline and effort. Much work has been done around subconscious programming, creating new neural pathways and hardwiring new beliefs and ideals.

Einstein use to hold a coin in his hand so that when he fell asleep, and his muscles relaxed, the coin would hit the floor, waking him up. He knew that his mind and body were–in that moment–crossing the divide between conscious and unconscious. He wanted to think and feel and create from that place, so he would practice this coin drop method and pull out a journal and start writing ideas that came to him in that space.

Therapists would say the subconscious can do in one hour what takes the conscious mind years to perform. So Song Wave offers a unique and slightly different way to help you access and enter that subconscious territory so you can get attune with yourself, check our beliefs and emotional states, work with new goals, and literally come out on the other side with new feelings and energy. All you have to do is arrive, get comfy and drift away to the music.

Using a combination of modalities and techniques, as well as my own love for sound and music, Song Wave creates a safe space for you to go on a 60-90 minute mindful musical journey, comprised of recorded and live songs and acoustic instruments. Though each night and them is different, we open a gentle and calm and fun space for you to settle in, set an intention (What are you looking to experience, learn, receive, gain from the night?), sometimes we ask someone to pick a word, say “Integrity” and we go around the room popcorn style, each saying what that word means to us, what it makes us think and feel. Then, we begin the musical journey, asking each participant to respect their neighbors experience and process, knowing we’re all coming from very different places. When the session is done, we gently either wake people up (because people often fall asleep), or use building and energized music to lift people out of their state and bring them back to the room. Sometimes we open a space for people to share their nights experience, in as little words as they’d like. It’s always beautiful seeing what people arrive with and what they leave with! And, bonus, friends are easily made as you connect with other like minded individuals who are open to new experiences, who are growing, who are wanting the best and highest for themselves and loved ones.

We’ve met so many wonderful people through this, and made so many good friends along the way. It’s hard to not be friends when you’re basically experiencing the best concert of your life together! You’ll feel right at home, and not weird at all meditating with total strangers 🙂 There’s always a few new people at each session, so don’t hesitate to email and ask more questions. We’d so love you to come check it out and experience for yourself a unique and powerful music experience.

Yes, Song Wave is not just a group experience. I offer one-on-one 60 minute sessions. It’s the same format as above except there’s more space to talk, ask questions, to get more clear and dig a little deeper than what’s possible in a group setting. Sometimes we start with light breath work and just see what comes up. You’re in charge the whole time. We just let the music do the work!

If you’re going through a lot, if you need some clarity, some support, a reset to certain emotions and patterns, I’d love to connect and offer my training to help facilitate your personal meditation time.
