A Short Reflection on Gun Violence

by admin | posted in: Blog, Culture, Personal Growth, Relationships, Self Help, Self Reflection | 0

About Guns… I think the shootings we’ve seen the last few years have been very tragic and sad, and I mostly have not wanted to chime in on them because of the weight of the whole thing. When people’s lives, … Continued

A Message to Millennials

by admin | posted in: Blog, Culture, Personal Growth, Self Help, Self Reflection | 0

Millennials… I’ve got a message for Millennials. A lot of things are said about you guys—often. You seem to be the brunt of a lot of societal blame. Post after post I see the war generation and the baby boomers … Continued

Where Your Treasure Is…

The boy asked him, “how do I find what I’m looking for?” The old man replied, “Boy, you’ve heard it said that where your treasure is your heart will be also?” “Yes,” the boy replied. “Many, having misunderstood the meaning … Continued

Why Losing Your Temper is Unemotional

by admin | posted in: Blog, Personal Growth, Relationships, Self Help, Self Reflection | 0

Did you know that people who often lose their temper are actually unemotional? I was once having a conversation with a guy about a fight he had recently had with his wife. It went something like this: “Ya know, she … Continued

Why We Suck At Communicating

by admin | posted in: Blog, Personal Growth, Relationships, Self Help, Self Reflection | 0

We often struggle to find the right words, the right time, the proper tone, maintain patience, listen with non-judgement and exude empathy toward the other. A communication breakdown results in irritation, blow ups, and sadly, a relationship that may be … Continued

Life Hurts, And It’s Supposed To

by admin | posted in: Blog, Personal Growth, Religion & Spirituality, Self Help, Self Reflection | 0

I use to refinish floors for a living. And I think, sometimes, life refinishes us. Because of the feet and furniture and dirt and kids and sunlight and life happening on the floor, the finish would scratch and fade preventing … Continued

A Third Way To Communicate

by admin | posted in: Blog, Personal Growth, Relationships, Self Help, Self Reflection | 0

The two most prevalent forms of communication are passivity and aggression. Aggression is not always scary and loud. It can be very polite, quiet and self controlled. That’s why it can be confusing. The thing to notice about aggressors is: … Continued

Mind Reading | can we even read our own?

by admin | posted in: Blog, Daily Living, Personal Growth, Relationships, Self Help, Self Reflection | 0

We spend a lot of time thinking about and analyzing other peoples behavior; what they think, what they feel, why they did something. We imagine that if we discover their thoughts we would then know or understand their motives. But … Continued

Reading is an act of Love

by admin | posted in: Blog, Daily Living, Personal Growth, Self Help, Self Reflection | 0

Reading does not just give one knowledge. A book does not just contain information. A book is another humans thoughts, therefore reading is a quiet act of love. For to read through a book is to give another human their … Continued

A Subtle Benefit of Forgiveness

by admin | posted in: Blog, Daily Living, Personal Growth, Relationships, Religion & Spirituality, Self Help, Self Reflection | 0

Forgiveness does not promise to fix something, change someone, erase a memory, or…be easy. It does not promise the mathematics will line up: that you will be paid back, protected or guaranteed emotional restitution. No, forgiveness is not always justice … Continued

When I was a boy I loved Jonathon Taylor Thomas. I
When I was a boy I loved Jonathon Taylor Thomas. I loved his hair, his voice as Simba, his personality in Home Improvement. I think I wanted to be an actor at a young age—something I’ve never noticed or been able to put words to til recently. And for whatever reason I couldn’t own it, or was too shy or embarrassed, thinking maybe I was being arrogant or selfish or a show-off. So posing, sharing openly, expressing myself, especially with music, has always been a struggle. Even if it looks like I walk with a swagger, or hold a certain confidence, on another level I’ve never been comfortable with it, and have always felt this nervousness as if someone’s about to yell at me, or sneer, or scold me for absorbing the attention in the room.

My presence and expression has always rubbed some people wrong. And to be honest, that’s always made me sad, and sometimes mad.

And so I would often tip-toe with myself, trying as best I could to blend and mold and chameleon myself to my imagined expectations in peoples minds.
Which is cute.
Which is well intended.
Which is also control, because it’s not my job to be in peoples minds.
The same way it’s not anyone’s job to be in mine and believe I’m being arrogant or self obsessed to proudly share a picture I look pretty damn good in, or sing loud and wild and free.

It’s weird and scary and humbling and freeing to learn to love yourself.

I love myself here.

Anna took this photo and said, “You should be a model.” Lol

Maybe.
Probably not.
But here’s me modeling for you.

And as far as loving myself, yes, I do.
Finally.
After many many years.
And when I found it, I found it also opened the door for me to love people back equally.
So that’s the best thing I can say.
I’m misread often.
But I think we all share the feeling that if anyone got to know the book inside the cover, they’d really like us.
I think this is true.
I think if you read some of my pages, I think you’d really like me.
And I know, for certain, already, I really really like you; your cover art, the title, the intro, the chapters and the ending.

Thanks for reading.

Thanks for letting me pose and look sexy AF for you.

I love you,

Uri
